Adult Education Teacher - Temporary - Part-Time Lexington School District Two is seeking an Adult Education Teacher to teach district‑approved curriculum in adult learning programs. The position is part‑time, temporary, and offers an opportunity to work in a supportive educational environment. Position Details Department: Instruction Reports to: Director of Adult Education Prepared by: Stephanie Hucks, HRD (10/23/2025) Approved by: Dr. Angela Cooper, CHRO (10/23/2025) Summary To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. Responsibilities Teach district‑approved curriculum and meet/instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day. Supervise classroom and students. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Arts degree. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid South Carolina Secondary Teaching Certificate in the appropriate area(s). Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Other Skills and Abilities: Apply current research and theory to instructional programs; plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
