Job Description

About Us

Innovative Home Renovations (IHR) is a design-build remodeling firm based in Northeast Seattle, specializing in kitchen, bathroom, and interior renovations. Our mission is to provide Seattle homeowners with a remodeling experience that eliminates spiraling budgets and out-of-control schedules, ensuring clients feel empowered, educated, and in control of their projects at all times.

Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for transforming spaces and a commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences. As an Interior Designer at IHR, you will collaborate closely with clients and our team to design functional, beautiful, and personalized interiors that reflect our clients' visions and needs. This role is an hourly Part-Time position, with the possibility of moving into Full-Time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Vision and Style: Develop cohesive, aesthetically pleasing designs that align with client preferences and project goals. A passion for fashion and its influence on interior design is a plus.
  • Client Collaboration: Engage with clients to understand their vision, goals, and lifestyle needs. Guide them through showroom visits, site walk-throughs, and key design decisions to ensure a tailored and informed experience.
  • Design Development and Detailing: Create detailed floorplans, space layouts, custom millwork drawings, and renderings using Chief Architect or similar tools. Translate ideas into clear, buildable documents.
  • Material and Product Selection: Recommend and specify finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and materials that are functional, aesthetically aligned, and within the client’s budget.
  • Project Coordination and Oversight: Collaborate with internal team members, subcontractors, drafters, and consultants to maintain design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Budget and Schedule Management: Develop accurate project budgets and timelines. Proactively resolve issues related to cost, availability, or logistics to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Trend Awareness and Innovation: Contribute to IHR’s design direction by staying up to date on industry trends, innovations, and best practices in kitchen, bath, and interior design.
  • Leadership and Team Contribution: Mentor junior staff, uphold quality standards, and help refine internal design processes and workflows to support company growth.

Why Join IHR?

At IHR, we are committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment where creativity and innovation thrive. We offer competitive compensation, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to be part of a company that values transparency, communication, and client satisfaction.

If you are passionate about interior design and eager to contribute to a company that transforms houses into homes, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements

  • Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, drafters, general contractors, subcontractors, and teammates. Fostering positive relationships and ensuring clarity across all parties is essential.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Abilities: Proven aptitude for addressing challenges, such as managing unexpected costs or material availability issues, while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Effective Multitasking: Capable of excelling at managing multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Passion for Design: A genuine enthusiasm for kitchen, bath, and interior design, with a commitment to delivering beautiful, functional, and client-focused spaces.
  • Professional Appearance and Demeanor: Consistently maintain a clean and neat appearance, alongside a professional attitude when interacting with clients, drafters, designers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and project neighbors.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Illustrator, Chief Architect, PowerPoint, or similar design tools to create and communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably in high-end residential or design-build environments. Proven ability to lead design projects from concept through completion.
