About the Role:

The Powder Coat Painter plays a critical role in the durable goods manufacturing process by applying high-quality powder coatings to various metal and fabricated products. This position ensures that finished goods meet stringent aesthetic and protective standards, enhancing product durability and customer satisfaction. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to prepare surfaces, apply coatings evenly, and operate curing ovens effectively. The Powder Coat Painter collaborates closely with production teams to maintain workflow efficiency and uphold safety protocols. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall quality and longevity of manufactured products, supporting the company’s reputation for excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience of powder coating materials, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Must have experience as a Powder Coat painter in a booth setting.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks during extreme temperatures.
• Heavy lifting (up to 60 pounds), bending, and stooping may be required.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Familiar with computer operated equipment.
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with quality control processes and inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to coating operations.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure and micrometer.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking areas to ensure proper powder coating adhesion.
• Operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns and curing ovens, following established procedures.
• Inspect coated products for defects such as uneven coverage, runs, or contamination and perform touch-ups as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with production supervisors to meet daily production targets and quality standards.

Skills:

The Powder Coat Painter utilizes technical skills daily to prepare surfaces and apply coatings uniformly, ensuring product quality and durability. Attention to detail is essential for identifying imperfections and making necessary corrections to meet quality standards. Operating and maintaining powder coating equipment requires mechanical aptitude and adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure efficient production. Communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve issues promptly. Additionally, problem-solving skills are applied when troubleshooting equipment or process inconsistencies to maintain continuous operation.
